She has been practicing law since 1998 and has been has been with Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein & Peirce Incorporated since 2004. Prior to joining the firm, she operated a solo practice in Warren, Rhode Island and served as an of counsel attorney at a law office in Swansea, Massachusetts.
Since joining Robert, Carroll Feldstein & Peirce, Ms. Pettey has devoted her time to handling complex medical malpractice actions, the representation of long term care and skilled nursing facilities, health care law and general insurance defense. She has experience in defending medical malpractice cases involving various specialties, has been involved in several jury trials and mediations, and has represented physicians before the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline.
Ms. Pettey has experience dealing with diverse populations in a wide variety of areas including general civil litigation, landlord tenant disputes, consumer bankruptcy, workers’ compensation defense, zoning, domestic relations and probate. She has appeared before numerous Zoning and Planning Boards in the State of Rhode Island and Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Her representation of clients has included executors, administrators and heirs in probate matters in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and, she regularly appears before the Family Court and Workers Compensation Court in Rhode Island.
Ms. Pettey is licensed to practice law in the State of Rhode Island, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Federal District Courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She formerly served as an adjunct faculty member and the paralegal studies advisor at Roger Williams University School of Continuing Studies and a visiting lecturer at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
Ms. Pettey was an active member of the Rhode Island Volunteer Lawyer Program and Lawyer Referral Program from 1998-2004 through the Rhode Island Bar Association. She was also an active participant in the New Center for Legal Advocacy in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The Rhode Island Bar Association acknowledged Ms. Pettey for her commitment to public service by awarding her the Rhode Island Bar Association Pro Bono Publico Award in June 2004.
She is a member of the College of the Holy Cross Alumni Association and served as an elected member of the Town of Warren Zoning Board of Review (1998-2001).
Ms. Pettey is a 1991 graduate of St. Mary Academy Bay View and served as a United States Senate Page during the 101st Congress. Ms. Pettey received her Bachelor’s Degree in classics/music (cum laude) from the College of the Holy Cross (1995), during which time she lived in Dublin, Ireland and attended Trinity College. She obtained her law degree from Suffolk University law School (cum laude) (1998).
