PEIRCErpeirce@rcfp.com 1.401.521.7000 x2216![]() ![]() In the area of labor and employment law, Mr. Peirce advises a broad range of clients with respect to federal and state statutory and regulatory requirements, employment contracts, severance agreements, and employee handbooks. He has litigated numerous cases in the state and federal courts regarding employment disputes and discrimination claims. He has also represented parties in litigation involving ERISA benefit claims. Mr. Peirce is an active member of the Rhode Island Bar Association where he serves on the Annual Meeting Committee and the Continuing Legal Education Committee. He is also a member and former co-chair of the Labor and Employment Committee. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Section, as well as the American Bar Association, and its Labor and Employment and Litigation Sections. Mr. Peirce has lectured regularly, particularly in the area of employment discrimination law. Mr. Peirce is active in many civic activities. He has been actively involved in alumni affairs at his alma mater, Holy Cross College, in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he has served on numerous committees, and as President of the College’s National General Alumni Association. He was awarded the “In Hoc Signo” Award, the College’s highest award for alumni service. As a resident of Somerset, Massachusetts, Mr. Peirce has served on various Town boards and committees, including the Advisory and Finance Committee, the Personnel Hearing Board, the Land Acquisition Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and the Open Space and Recreation Study Committee. He was elected Somerset Town Moderator, a position in which he served for six years. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers of Rhode Island. He has served on various committees in his local church and the Diocese of Fall River. Mr. Peirce graduated from Holy Cross College in 1967, and received his J.D. degree from the University of Maine School of Law, where he served as managing editor of the Maine Law Review. He is admitted to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Maine, the Federal District Courts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the First and Second Circuits. |
