Department of Health Regulations: Medical Orders For Life Sustaining TreatmentAlthough it cannot, and should not, be considered to be a substitute for advance directives, including living wills and health care powers of attorney, a MOLST (Medical Order for Life Sustaining Treatment) provides a mechanism for translating end of life wishes into medical orders. Regulations recently reviewed by the Department of Health, and the release of a MOLST form, should help ensure a patient’s end-of-life wishes are fulfilled. |
